Why Sash Windows...
Sash Windows are a perfect example of intelligent design and manufacture. Still the same basic principle since their first creation in the 15th Century. They succinctly mesh both longevity, simplicity, beauty and sustainability into one timeless product.
Modern timber Sash Windows can not only compete on lifespan but also thermal efficiency with today’s less environmentally conscientious window products and we feel that they are the ultimate in affordability and environmentally sound products for making a beautiful home.
We love sash windows in all their forms, and some are more difficult to manufacture than others, but here at The Joinery Yard all are treated with the same care and respect that any timeless beauty deserves. Windows truly are the soul of a house and often make it a home through their ability to bring the outside inside and make a lasting impression as one approaches a property.
The Resources We Use
To further enhance the longevity and sustainability, all the timber we use is FSC sourced, and we predominantly use Accoya High Performance Modified Wood for our windows. Accoya is a carbon negative timber product whose manufacturer is so confident in its ability that it offers a 50 year guarantee.
On top of concerning ourselves with the sustainability and lifespan of your windows we also make sure that all our windows can be manufactured to meet the thermal requirements for new build regulations and the glass we use is sourced so locally that we don’t even need it to be delivered, we simply collect it from the unit next door.
Caring For The Environment
As a company we are heavily focused on the environment and the safety of our future as well as our staff. We use all our offcuts of timber (where safe to do so) to heat our joinery yard and ensure that all waste where applicable is recycled or reused.
We're proud to say that we have recently installed a new extraction system that has dealt with the age old issue of Joinery Yards being a dusty environment. This allows our staff to work safely and our products to be produced without contaminants in the air while applying priming and finishing processes.
We try our very best to always be achieving a smaller C02 footprint and furthermore this process of minimising waste allows us to offer a finished product at an incredible value to the end consumer while protecting our staff and our environment.
Vacuum Heritage Glass
Here at the Joinery Yard we have access to a local glass supplier who specialises in narrow double glazing. We have found this to be a cost-effective method of glazing heritage windows for conservation areas. They also provide us with larger double-glazed units for more modern properties up to a thickness of 24mm. All these products provide a great U-value and sound insulation at a competitive price point.
However as always, we like to be at the forefront of technology and industry standards, and this means that we can also offer Fineo and Land Vac glass products. These two suppliers are now producing a very popular glass replacement technology that utilises a vacuum in its construction.
This helps achieve a very high U-value in a slimline unit. This means we can offer the very best in windows and doors and their glass, for conservation areas and projects that require that truly special finish.
